With his project Nerlov, Florent Vincelot fully assumes the unvarnished sincerity of this music that some describe as spleen wave. “It plays on the light-dark side: it’s high but not light”, Florent summarizes.
It is nourished by the original trap music from Atlanta, dark and vaporous, as well as by the musician’s perennial references, from Thom Yorke (for his melodic experimentations) to Booba, for his freedom of tone, and James Blake, for his electronic and melancholic bias… Distrusting metaphorical and pictorial poetry, Nerlov favors direct lyrics. A way of dealing with adversity, including internal, a musical outlet that also serves to heal wounds.
