The Cincinnati rapper Napoleon Maddox, who recently moved to Besançon, France, is hard to stop! Leader of the band “IsWhat?!”, collaborator of saxophonist and New York poet Roy Nathanson in Sotto Voce, and of Archie Shepp in Phat Jam, Napoleon Maddox is back with this hip hop project tinged with punchy electro and soul/funk samples. He distills his sharp and cutting flow on the productions of Sorg, a beatmaker who is part of the new generation of French electronic music. Their collaboration started in 2013 with the track “Wild West”. The young producer has been noticed for his remix of Rone, “Wave”, and for being selected for the iNOUïS du Printemps de Bourges 2017.
On stage, Sorg & Napoleon Maddox perform an energetic and engaging performance that echoes the golden age of hip-hop while creatively exploring modern sounds.
