Richard Allen

Richard was born in the late 1980s in the rural county of Warwickshire in the centre of England where he spent his first four years before crossing the Channel with his family to settle in France.

Richard’s music draws its originality and owes so much to this dual culture. On the one hand, he follows the tradition of the Folk Revival of the 1970s, on the other, he draws on the repertoire of an impressionist school which provides a perfect counterpoint to this ensemble and includes lots of abstraction like a type of folk music that does not follow the rules.

A stateless brand of folk music is born from this dual culture, a singular universe of rare and empathetic elegance.
